Marbella aims to consolidate its leadership among world tourist destinations, which is why it is committed, as it has always been, to innovation and improvement in its day-to-day activities and in its development strategy.

To achieve this goal, a decision has been taken to implement a Smart Tourist Destination Management System, as laid out in UNE 178501 standard "Smart Tourist Destinations Management System" and as an integral part of the Western Costa de Sol Smart Tourist Destination.

To formulate policies and plans, ties are maintained with the DTI Western Costa del Sol. A consultation framework has also been designed on the Marbella tourist destination comprising the main stakeholders in the sector, including supra-local agents and entities, the main function of which is to represent the needs of stakeholders in these policies and plans.

The Tourism Office of the Marbella City Council, which acts as the Destination Management Body, will be in charge of developing, coordinating, and evaluating the policies and plans that are approved and will call on extensive experience in tourism planning and marketing to do so.

To carry out the Smart Tourist Destination Marbella project, a DTI Quality Policy has been developed, which is shown in a diagram (image).
